Jessica Powell, LAc
Jessica holds a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University, and is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board to practice Acupuncture and Medical Herbalism. Her clinical practice includes Pain Relief and Stress Reduction, Family Health and Preventive Care. She has a particular interest in helping patients heal from traumatic brain injuries, mental health issues, and addiction. She studied Integrative Sports Medicine with Anthony Von der Muhll, L.Ac., and had the fortunate opportunity to study with famous pain specialist Dr. Richard Tefu Tan, founder of the Tan Style of Acupuncture Pain Management. Jessica is a current member of the California State Oriental Medical Association, and the National Acupuncture Detox Association.
A native of Santa Cruz, Jessica is the proud mom of two wonderful young sons, and is married to Jeremy, a middle school teacher in Live Oak. As a lifelong student of Tibetan Buddhism, she strives to combine the principles of compassion and wisdom with her medical training to achieve optimal results for each of her patients. She is an avid gardener and has completed two seasonal internships with Peggy Schafer, pioneer and expert in the cultivation domestic organic Asian medicinal herbs. In her free time Jessica can be found enjoying the beautiful Santa Cruz landscape with her sweet dog, spending time with her family, and volunteering with rescued horses. She is currently in private practice in Santa Cruz, and is holding evening hours at the Santa Cruz Acupuncture Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic.

Leia Sutton-Barnes L.Ac, MTCM, BA
Leia is a California board certified acupuncturist and herbalist with a Master in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA. She graduated with certificates in Sports Medicine Acupuncture and Tui Na Therapeutic Massage. Leia has training in Sensory Awareness and worked with The Ting-Sha Institute where she developed an appreciation for the value of mind-body medicine in bringing health and balance to one’s life. She has a background in Western science with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and believes in a holistic approach to medicine.
Leia lived for ten years in Puerto Rico enjoying the lifestyle, learning about the culture through cuisine and dance, and studying yoga and local medicinal plants. She has a passion for herbal medicine, diet and nutrition, and loves when those can be combined to make food our medicine. Leia specializes in sports injuries, pain, and stress management. In her free time, Leia enjoys cooking, dancing, and outdoor activities such as hiking, gardening, and swimming. She loves speaking Spanish and working with people of all ages.
Leia’s hours are Thursdays and Fridays.
Audra Alejandrez, L.Ac., MTCM, BA

Audra studied at Five Branches University where she received her Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has been studying and practicing acupuncture for 8 years. She was inspired to begin her studies in Chinese Medicine over 11 years ago when those very close to her endured personal battles with cancer. She hopes to further her studies in the treatment of those with cancer along with working with children. Audra has a deep respect for and enjoys practicing acupuncture because it helps people achieve a balance on an emotional, spiritual and physical level that is already innate within the body, as well as empowering those when it comes to their health.
Corey A. Miller is a California board certified acupuncturist and herbalist. She received her Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from internationally recognized, Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California. Corey has been studying and working for over 10 years and specializes pediatrics, pain and stress management., auto accident victims, orthopedics and sports injury prevention.
Before Corey was an Acupuncturist she attended the University of California, Berkeley where she was a member of the highly ranked NCAA Women’s Water Polo team and blended her love of medicine and culture by earning her degree in Social Cultural Anthropology.
Corey has been a featured speaker at Way of Life, New Leaf Markets and The Herb Room and is a Wellness Educator at New Leaf and Whole Foods markets!
Corey is known for her professional, effective and cheerful approach to healthcare and is dedicated to providing quality integrative health care to all her patients. She believes that your body has the power to heal and that patient involvement is the key to their success in wellness!
